Aims and purpose
The Club of Venice is an informal group of the most senior communications professionals from the governments of EU Member and Candidate states, and from the European Institutions.
The Club aims to promote effective government communication at national and European level for the benefit of Europe’s citizens and their democratic engagement. We do this through our plenary meetings, specialised workshops, and members-only extranet (VeniceNet).
Our objectives are:
to strengthen professional knowledge, networks, and expertise amongst our members
to promote discussion and debate about the communication of European issues – or issues affecting people across Europe
The Club of Venice is independent and subject only to the rules made by its members. It relies on the goodwill of its members for its facilities and organisation. As an informal organisation, all institutions and states are equal, and our culture is pragmatic, co-operative and non-hierarchical.
We are very grateful for the support of the Italian Dipartimento per il Coordinamento delle Politiche Comunitarie, the Comune di Venezia, and the authorities of our our other host governments and cities for making facilities available to the Club over the years.
